The “Reset” Effect Finally Kicked In
I took a “Burnout Break”, but it took a month before I feel 100% again. Here’s how to recover from it.
1. Acknowledge Your Burn Out
There was a point in time when I was just staring blankly at the computer screen, yet I felt like I was keeping my head above water — as if any more of what I was doing can easily make me drown. I continued to work under that condition until I developed physical reactions (Eczema flare-ups, Shortness of breath, etc.). That was when I told myself, enough is enough, YOU NEED A BREAK.
Please acknowledge your burnout as soon as possible so that you can start to treat your burnout.
2. Resting Is Not Resting If You Are Stresslaxing
“Stresslaxing” is “being so stressed that relaxing makes you more stressed because you’re not working on what’s making you stressed,” Urban Dictionary explains.
For all of us who acknowledged that we are drained, our initial instinct is usually to take a break and try to laze around in bed all day to make up for the lack of rest. If you are on the bed thinking about the things you are not doing and feeling guilty about them, you are doing it wrong. Maybe you should not be “Resting” if that’s the case.
